Electric Motion Systems, LLC Recalls Lithium-Poly Battery Pack Due to Fire Hazard
What was recalled
The recalled product is a black lithium-poly 37 volt, 10Ah battery used in electric bicycles and propulsion systems. The battery is 8.75 inches x 5.75 inches x 3.25 inches. "E+" appears on a label on the side of the battery. Recalled batteries have "EMS# 11819-101" at the top right of the label with a serial number between 10001 and 10200. The batteries were sold on their own and as part of the E+ Flex Kits. The kits are complete propulsion systems.
Hazard
The battery can overheat and catch fire.
Injuries
The company was aware of three reports of the battery catching fire. One incident resulted in a consumer receiving minor burns.

- Bike shops nationwide and the company's website, from October 2009 through November 2010. Batteries sold for between $900 and $1,000 and the E+ Flex Kits were sold for between $2,325 and $2,675.
