CPSC, Oki Data Announce Recall of Fax Machines
What was recalled
The recalled fax machines include the OKIFAX® 5780, 5980, 5980DL models, and Konica 9880 model (manufactured by Oki Data Americas Inc.), with serial numbers beginning with 3110A, 311A, 312A, 401A and 402A. The model number is found on the top right hand side on the front of the unit and the serial numbers can be found on the back of the unit, bottom of case, centered, on the black and white bar code label.
Hazard
The fax machines may incur a mechanical malfunction, posing a shock hazard to users.
Injuries
Oki Data has not received any reports of incidents. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.

- Oki Data independent dealers and Konica Business Technologies U.S.A. Inc. sold the fax machines, between October 2003 and February 2004, for between $2,800 and $4,000 (depending on the model).
