CPSC, Liebert Corp. Announce Recall of Cooling System
What was recalled
The environmental control units are used as a cooling system in computer rooms. The recalled units are 277 volts and 1.5, 2 and 3 tons with electric reheat. The units are mounted in the ceiling and use ducts or special distribution grills to distribute the air.
Hazard
An electric heating element inside the system, that is used primarily in the dehumidification process, can short circuit and produce sparks, posing a smoke and fire risk.
Injuries
No injuries have been reported.
Where it was sold
- Liebert Corp. sold these units nationwide, from January 1998 through August 2000, for between $3,000 and $8,000.
