CPSC, Evercel Announce Recall of Nickel Zinc Battery Chargers
What was recalled
These Everplore-model M100-12V-12.5A-110 chargers have a blue plastic enclosure and measure 5.5 inches wide, 10.5 inches long and 3 inches thick. "EVERPLORE" and Ni-Zn Battery Charger" are written on a blue and white label on the front of the units.
Hazard
Internal electrical components of the battery chargers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Injuries
There have been three reports of these battery chargers overheating and melting, causing minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
Where it was sold
- Cabella's mail order catalogs and web site sold these battery chargers as part of their Evercel Model MOD100-7C Trolling Battery system, from August 2002 through September 2002, for about $299.
