What was recalled

These 2002 and 2003 model year ATVs have "Cannondale" and "Cannibal" on both sides of the bodywork. "Cannondale" appears on the rear fenders and bodywork of the vehicle; "Cannibal" appears roughly inboard of the operator's knee location.

Hazard

The front shocks can break apart internally while riding. If this happens, the shock halves can separate, causing the ATV suspension to fail. The operator can lose control of the ATV, possibly resulting in injury or death.

Injuries

Cannondale Corp. has received 11 reports of these front shocks breaking apart. One consumer has suffered a broken leg.
