What was recalled

The products are smoke-producing novelty devices packaged in a 4.5-inch-long cylindrical tube. "MAMMOTH SMOKE" is written on the side of the devices in blue and yellow. They were sold in sets with other types of fireworks.

Hazard

The device can unexpectedly propel on the ground or unintentionally explode during use, posing a risk of burn injuries to consumers.

Injuries

BJ Alan Co. has received two reports of incidents in which the product propelled on ground or exploded. One incident resulted in a minor burn to a consumer's foot.

  • Fireworks stands and stores nationwidem, from April 2003 through June 2005. The Phantom variety pack sold for about $6 and the Storm Chaser assortment tray sold for about $17.
